The Nautical Trend

By Caroline Savard, fashion stylist: www.lamodeavecstyle.com

Towards the end of winter, as we are getting weary of our somber colored sweaters, the transitional collections show up in stores helping us to hold-up until spring. Vivid and luminous pastels are proposed to brighten our wardrobe this year. As well, the marinière is often in the foreground as it is a staple that somehow always feels fresh. But this year, the trend will go much further than a simple knit with stripes that reminds us of the sailor’s uniform. Everything will go nautical! Prints with boats, anchors and ropes as well as white and navy will be setting the tone.

We present a nautical inspired selection that will convince you to make waves this season.

The marinière is a basic in any wardrobe. If you prefer a less traditional look than the classic white and navy stripe, choose a more daring color combination. Mix your marinière with a plaid, polka-dot or even a floral printed shirt for a more current style.

A polka-dot tote bag will be your ally throughout spring as well as during the summer. Not only this bag is a practical choice, it will also add a touch of class.

If you would like to incorporate the trend with a moderate approach, think accessories. A bracelet that bears resemblance to marine ropes or a necklace with an anchor pendant will give you the nautical look at a lower cost.

As a fashion blogger and personal stylist for La Mode avec Style since 3 years now, I spend most of my time shoping, leafing through magazines and attending fashion events, in order to keep abreast of the news in the fashion world. Inveterate shopper, I love to discover new boutiques and emerging designers.

However, I pay special attention preserving my own style. Our image is our personal signature, it is important to keep it in mind when trying to follow fashion trends. My style is at once classic but equally edgy and modern. As a stylist, I combine fabrics, textures and colors to create trendy looks ! I distinguish myself by my ability to combine different styles creating a coherent et artistic whole. I'm versatile and I have a great capacity to adapt, then no matter the challenge, I'm ready for it.
