The beginning of the year is often synonymous with renewal; we make resolutions in order to improve our quality of life, striving for a new departure! In the fashion world, January is a month renowned for sales, but it is also the time to learn about the new trends for the coming year!
Last fall, the Fashion Weeks’ top designers paved the road to the “in” looks for this spring and summer. Pantone, the global authority on color, brings you the important color trends that have inspired the ready-to-wear labels this season. To kick off the New Year in beauty and style, I present you the most prominent hues for spring 2014.
When shopping the new spring arrivals available in the boutiques, you will come across a variety of versatile colors allowing for experimentation with new looks and color combinations. The composition of the palette encompasses two remarkable currents; soft pastels and vivid brights, something to suit every one's tastes.
On one end of the palette, three versatile pastels are often seen as nature’s background : a blue as reassuring as a summer sky, a tender green reminding us of new foliage as well as a romantic purple hue similar to spring flowers. Paired with bolder colors such as Cayenne Red, Calesio Orange or Dazzling Blue, one achieves a daring and trendy look.
At the other end of the spectrum, the strong and vibrant colors complement pastels as well as the bright colors bringing confidence and vivacity to one who dares to wear them together! Just try it!
Possibly, you are not accustomed to coordinating colors, especially vibrant ones. To avoid making a faux pas, begin with a dominant hue in your outfit and add small touches of the other colors mostly with accessories, a pair of shoes or a scarf.
