The midi is the “it” of the season!

By Caroline Savard, fashion stylist: www.lamodeavecstyle.com

Straight from the Fifties, the midi skirt is back again in style this season. Although the midi length is both feminine and romantic, it is tricky to wear. The skirt falls below the knee and women who do not have the slender silhouette and the interminable legs of a model can be frightened by the new trend. Do not worry, in its latest reincarnation, the midi skirt has become more suitable for a range of silhouettes. Feel free to wear it this summer.

Since this longer skirt style falls below the knee and stops at mid calf, it can be unflattering to many. When sporting the midi skirt, privilege high heels to lengthen and refine the leg!

The pencil skirt can suggest a more severe image at times! To soften the look, choose a bright shade or a colored print for your skirt. Pair it with a light, floaty top or even a denim shirt.

If you prefer the full, flowing skirt or the a-line cut, then choose a top that is closer to the body for a more balanced silhouette. Think of a pretty bustier or a fitted white tee-shirt.

Do not forget, the midi skirt will be the focal point of your outfit! It is preferable to finish up with more subdued clothing and accessories for a balanced look. Stay away from the overstated look that guarantees a weighing down effect which you want to avoid at all costs!

/media_library/Montage-photo-Caroline-Savard.jpgPassionate about fashion and style since my childhood, I am constantly looking for new trends and inspirations. As a fashion blogger and personal stylist for La Mode avec Style since 3 years now, I spend most of my time shoping, leafing through magazines and attending fashion events, in order to keep abreast of the news in the fashion world. Inveterate shopper, I love to discover new boutiques and emerging designers.

However, I pay special attention preserving my own style. Our image is our personal signature, it is important to keep it in mind when trying to follow fashion trends. My style is at once classic but equally edgy and modern. As a stylist, I combine fabrics, textures and colors to create trendy looks ! I distinguish myself by my ability to combine different styles creating a coherent et artistic whole. I'm versatile and I have a great capacity to adapt, then no matter the challenge, I'm ready for it.
