Prom is coming up and one of the biggest stresses for girls around this time is finding the perfect prom dress. This can be a very hard choice for many so the girls at Très Chic Styling have come up with a few tips to help make this process much easier.
1. KNOW YOUR BODY
Every woman is unique, it is important to be familiar with your shape and to pick the best dress that will flatter and draw attention to your best features rather than a dress that will draw attention away from the other features. Here are a few suggestions on finding the right style for your body type:
Pear Shapes - For pear shapes we recommend prom dresses with fitted tops and full or a-line skirts. Or if you are comfortable with your larger behind, go for prom dresses that are a bit more form fitting.
Slender - If you have a slim figure the illusion of curves can be achieved by drawing attention to
your bust line or a prom dress that bells out. Also, you might try prom dresses that draw attention to your waist such as a wrap dress or one with a belt.
Busty - You can play up what you have by choosing from prom dresses with a gorgeous neckline; but look for prom dresses with fuller coverage so you can make sure you have adequate support. If you would like to draw attention away from your chest; look for prom dresses that attract the eye to the hem.
Petite - If you are petite show a little leg and go with an asymmetrical hemline or a long fitted solid prom dress to make you appear taller. Floor length ball gowns tend to overwhelm your frame. Long ruffles can also add the illusion of height.
Hourglass - If you have an hour glass figure consider yourself lucky! You have a naturally well proportioned body with means you don't need to disguise anything. Almost every style prom dress will flatter your figure. Have fun with it!
Apple - For an apple shaped body prom dresses with an empire waist will help draw attention from your middle. Also a higher waist line means the prom dress may not be as tight in your problem area. If you have nice athletic legs, you might try to show them off by looking at shorter prom dresses.
It is important to find a dress that fits you comfortably! A common mistake that many girls make is buying a dress that is too small with the plan to lose weight to fit in just in time for prom. This can be very hard to do and may lead to a very uncomfortable night
2. DON’T OVERDO IT
It is important to be unique and beautiful on this very special night but being unique does not mean you have to wear an overly elaborate dress or put on a huge amount of makeup! Though these things may make you stand out, it could be for the wrong reasons. Make sure you feel comfortable in the way your dress looks and feels. By doing this you will feel confident which is essential to beauty. By feeling confident and looking your best, you can stand out and be unique for the right reasons without having to go overboard.
3. PLAN AHEAD
Before you start buying your dress, it is a very good idea to get an idea of exactly what you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay for it. Price and beauty are not always necessarily related so be sure to look around as early as possible to find the best dresses and prices. Doing the proper research and finding the perfect dress can leave both you and your wallet feeling great.
